Description

Keepers of the Flame: A History of Attunement outlines the story of a unique spiritual healing practice. It is a specialized history for a particular audience. Almost everyone reading this will be an Attunement Practitioner, a student of Attunement or someone researching energy healing. I have decided to leave out many of the basic premises and techniques of Attunement for this reason. For a basic introduction to Attunement I recommend my book Attunement, The Sacred Landscape, Exploring the Soul Through Radiant Healing. The first section of this history includes an overture reprinted from that manual entitled Attunement: A Definition.

Attunement has traditionally been taught by mentoring and as part of Emissary classes. It was and is an everyday part of living in an Emissary center or intentional community. Because of its unique place in Emissary life and culture, learning about Attunement has gone hand-in-hand with the Emissary experience of worship and community. The oral tradition has played a large part the transmission of Attunement technique, philosophy, lore, culture and legacy. There was never a need for a formal history. Only in the decade of the 1990s have Attunement classes outside of the Emissary class setting begun to be taught. A number of books have appeared that teach Attunement techniques and premises. These are excellent guides to learning Attunement but it is highly recommended that students and researchers spend time with an experienced Attunement practitioner.

Hopefully, this history will serve as a companion to Attunement education. Many old-time Attunement practitioners will also find new information presented here and in turn may be able to add further insight to later editions. May this work inspire you, the reader, and may those you serve be blessed.
